    Question Florida Question

OK, Just crusin around the net looking for a place to be and
I found the Homasassa river area. anybody know anything about it ?
Seem like you have the homasassa, chassahowitxka, and crystal rivers in the area
    all leading to the gulf.
Redfish, Trout, cobia, grouper, they even have scallops, etc.
Since the rivers have manatees I would guess it's all no wake?
No point in a go fast boat ?
Anybody know anything about this place ?
Saw a place listed for 125,000 on the homasasso river. Half acre with dock.
    Hard to believe.
Can you say year round fishin ?

Thanks for any info anyone might have on the area.
    Joe

It has been a long time since I lived in Fla, but Homasasso was always a nice place to drive through. It is definitely Manatee country, but you can find good grouper and snapper fishing offshore if you have any interest.

Inshore, reds, trout - don't forget Snook and tarpon too...

There is a spring and fall run of Spanish and Kings not far out.

Scalloping is a heck of a lot of fun - and I like bay scallops a lot more than Sea Scallops.

It is not a bad drive to Tampa, Clearwater or Tallahassee if you need some big city stuff.

No real beaches in this area and the Gulf is very shallow here. Gets a foot deeper per mile and the water is kinda muddy looking from the rivers dumping into them. Fishing is still good but this area does get a little cold (compared to Tampa Bay) in the winter. You are a ways from the Tampa airport which is the closest major airport.

Bottom line is that almost all Florida real estate is on sale now. For fishing I would recommend a canal home in the Venice or Punta Gorda area.

Go a little further south to Pine Island. Inshore fishing there is excellent.

More places to think about. maybe come spring I'll rent a mobile and cruise the gulf coast. Not limited to fla. Sounds like a plan.
    Lots of research to do.

    thanks again.
