More good points, thanks, we want to have the big boat down there for trips to the Keys and Bahamas, and then bring it back North for the Summer, exploring along the way. We may very well rent for a month here and there until we get the right spot. I really liked cruising the waterway from Boca to Miami a couple years back and making a couple trips to the Bahamas on our friends 45 Hat. We ran offshore all the way from MA to Stuart, just stopping for fuel. Lots to consider......thanks....

Do like I did- buy house on west coast (25 years), leave big boat at marina on east coast (for blue water and bahamas) and buy bayboat for inshore on west coast. Go where the fish are. Big boat on west coast is a wasted effort, bayboat will get you to the redfish and grouper.
Move big boat to different areas of east coast to take advantage of different blue water fish during different seasons.

I just moved to Stuart cause west coast was turning into Ft. Lauderdale.

I grew up in Tampa, and spent a bunch of time fishing out of Clearwater, St Pete, Tarpon Springs... Sometimes Sarasota or Boca Grande... Lots of great inshore reds, trout, snook in the mangroves. Nice bottom fishing year round (except for closures) 20 - 40 offshore.

Since the net ban, there have been good runs of spanish and kings spring and fall...
