    Fishing Music.

Perhaps I'm getting older, but some of the music that's embedded in fishing videos, especially on Utube, et. at. is just too darned loud and, well, meaningless for me.

Just got back from an overnighter with another boat anchored on the Heald Bank off Galveston. We caught just about everything but cobia and hooked one of those. But as night wore on and the action slowed we turned on the $129 super CD player and put in our favorites (I'm not an audiophile so I'm cheap about AM/FM/CD. Besides, my dumb boy always ruins them by squirting water in them while cleaning the boat).

My favorite CDs for fishing are Jimmy Buffet and a little ditty called Lovers Waltz with lots of similar musical and vocal pieces to a waltz beat. I never seem to tire of Jimmy and when I'm good and drunk the waltzes make my tear up about a lot of things but, I'll admit it, certainly for how frickin' crazy we are to be bobbing all over the ocean in the middle of the night in small boats.

So, I was thinking about this when I learned that Ghaddafi is dead (no real connection, just simultaneus happenstance) and I wondered what you guys listened to offshore.

Now, I'd like to be able to separate the old guys from the young turks and then download and listen to what each group seems to like offshore. So, when you respond please also list your age with your favorite tunes.

    Best,

    LF

    The First Thing I Did,

On my last two boat's was to yank the radio/stereo. I hear enough racket onshore, too busy paying attention to fishing. My age, well that's a secret! Frank

    Rarely

And I mean rarely, do I ever put music on when offshore...I find it distracting, and gets in the way if I need to give instructions..but sometimes I find it cool to put on comic Stand up on satellite..people start cracking up..it's pretty nice

That's a really good idea. It would lighten the boredom of chumming and waiting.

I never really understood the music while fishing. Some guys swear by it. I know a guy that plays Frank S. for hours on end. He swears Tuna are Italian so it gets played. I tend to like it quite so I can make fun of people and listen to the engines, watch the spread, scan the VHF, talk on the sat phone to other boats. I'll crank the tunes on the way home. Mostly Cypress Hill stuff.

    BFB,

Miss Stevie has my vote! She play's in the shop quite often, mostly on the late night's. Never really got over the music I was raised on. Frank
