Five star just caught a grander this year... they're hot in the action right now. Capt. Mcgrue Rice is a very knowledgeable person on the Ihu Nui. In fact just look in the yellow pages and give any guy a call. The action kinda slowed a bit but if you're lucky, the action might pick up when you come. Smaller boat captains get more action then the Big Boats as the latter only go for marlin and Ahi. I did find this guy who fishes for Accurate reels. http://www.hlassportfishing.com/ . He'll make sure you are kept busy with the smaller game until the big boys bite. Good luck!

We have fished out of Kona about 10 times, with many different Captains and boats. Captain Kevin Nakamura of the Northern Lights is a good guy and the restored Meritt is a spectacular (and pricey) boat to fish. More moderate price wise and just as good fishing wise was Captain Jerry Allen and mate John (808.322.6630) of the SeaDancer who put my wife and I onto a 350/400 pound blue marlin and some yellowfin.
