    Fishing and beaches

I am trying to plan a vacation for me and my wife. this trip could easily become me, my wife and 20 other friends and family. I want to go somewhere where the fishing is great and there some other activities. My wife who does not fish much would want a nice beach, maybe a spa and good food (i could be real good local food doesnt have to be a 5 star)

we are pretty open to anywhere in the world but probably leaning to somewhere within 16 hours of boston MA.

    any ideas, experiences thoughts

    Cold Waters,

We just had the vacation of a life time in MHC, NC. The fishing on the RUN OFF was excellent inshore and offshore. Great food at the Watermark in Atlantic Beach, beaches all over the place, really nice ones out in the Cape Lookout area. History at Fort Macon, Beauford has real nice waterfront area, boat tours parasailing. Would I go again? Heck yes, I can't wait to go again. I have a new problem, it involves fish and saltwater, and I live in AZ. I want a wahoo real bad. Do it you'll be glad you did.

I would have to agree. The Morehead City, Beaufort, Atlantic Beach area is simply great.

I would try the Fish Tacos at Ruddy Ducks. It is on the MHC waterfront.

The beaches are great and the town of Beafort has plenty of choices.

    ColdWater,

I have had many aboard my boat and in my home, that have been all over the world in pursuit of that dream spot. Generally comes out while we're hooked up offshore, "you know I've been everywhere and it don't get any better than this". Good luck, I'll take Eastern, NC. Oh yah, and if you find better cookin' than these ol' country girl's whoop up, please post it, I'm in. Frank

Hell, there are direct flights from Boston to Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies. American Airlines.

You can leave early and be on the beach by early afternoon. Same time zone. English is the language, US dollars the currency.

And the beaches are fantastic. Fishing is usually pretty good, but I would not say consistently fantastic. There is always something though. Bonefish year round, also bottom fishing for grouper and snapper year round. The dolphin, yft, and wahoo come and go with the seasons.

And there's Costa Rica...Baja California ( take your kevlar vest), all the Caribbean, Brazil, lots of sunny places within sixteen hours of Boston...

I'll have to repeat what Seapower said - I've been fortunate enough to do a bit of travelling to fish - Keys, Carribean, Hawaii - The only thing any of these places have offered over Eastern NC is shallow water (right off the beach) snorkeling - but in terms of fishing - both quantity and quality, you can't beat NC...

For the beach types, there are great white sand beaches and plenty of available rental properties - both houses and condos
    to handle a crowd.

Add in World Class Charter fleets - MHC, Hatteras, Oregon Inlet - You won't go wrong.

    Thank's Capt. Fred,

I knew I wasn't alone on this one !!! I'll admit I'm not a world traveler (yes I have been out of NC). But where can you fish dolphin, tuna, hoo's, bottom fish, and billfish thrown in on any given day better than right here? Throw in the first class charter fleet, that have the knowledge and really try to give you that trip of a lifetime. That's not to mention the "down home country" cooking that we all take for granted. Sound's like we live in Paradise doesn't it. Make mine NC for sure!!!Frank

Its so far away that when the world comes to an end they will know 6 days later. Hatteras village and one of those big beach houses across from the ferry. and those houses are big enough for 20 no problem.
