First Trip Off shore

I just bought my boat last year, a 29 foot Sea Fox Express, and last week I took my first trip offshore.
I went with four other guys, but only three of us got to fish , the other two were in a dramamine induced coma all day. We had 3 to 5 foot swells and a great drift.
We were at the monster ledge. We hooked a 4 1/2 foot hammerhead and played with it for about a half an hour. When we got it to the boat we released it. There was one other hit, but it spit the bait.
I was so excited to be out there and to get two hook ups.
I am definately going back out, but only this time I will be taking a crew that can stay awake.

works great..sucks when you lose it out there ...what kinda motors you got on the boat?

Twin inboard Crusader 270's just replaced the port engine three weeks ago

sounds very nice..what did you burn for that run?

I use 26 gallons an hour, and it takes 45 minutes to get from my marina in the Matedekonk thru the point pleasant canal to the Manasquan inlet, than 1 hour to make the 21 mile run to the ledge, so I burned about a seventy five going and seventy five coming back. Phew , I have a 240 gallon main and a twenty five gallon reserve tank. I can probably get out to the Glory Hole, and a little trolling, but I think that is my range.
What do you run.

I fished with an old friend, we used to fish on his 23 foot Grady White, so when I bought my boat last year I told him it was time to return the favor.
We had a great first trip and are planning another for next week.
I hope to get in on some tuna fishing too.
