First time Fisherman in MD
I'm moving up to Bel Air, MD in about a month and I've never fished in the the Chesapeake before. I'm accustomed to fishing down in NC on the Outer Banks and surf casting, but I'm not sure what kinds of fishing goes on up in MD... If anyone could help me out and give me a little bit of an idea of where to go I'd really appreciate it

Crab mustard is good
Welcome to SFC Matt. Md has some good saltwater and freshwater fishing. Randy covered a lot of the saltwater but I'll add a little to what he had to offer.
The bay offers good striper fishing early (April-May). There is a catch and release fishery on the Flats which are on the north end of the bay. Striper fishing is good in the summer if you like small fish. There are trout, flounder, blues, croaker and other sw species - but they are normally found south of the bay bridge. You really need a boat to fish the bay. Shore fishing is few are far between.
The ocean offers surf fishing and the normal beach/inshore/offshore scene. The seasons are a little more limited than NC but the Md State record striper normally comes from the surf at Assateague island. The ocean is about 3 hours away from Bel Air.
There is fresh water fishing in the rivers and lakes in the area. Normal stuff - bass, pickeral and trout.
Good luck in your move - look me up when you get here. I'm about 20 minutes from Bel Air.

I am out in the Bay from early spring to late fall
Will be splashing the boat as soon as temps stay above 32
You are more than welcome this spring to join us for a some trophy rockfish action
I can show you some decent spots for trolling, bottom fishing, light tackle jigging, crabbing etc.
We live in Perryman on the Bush River which is close to Aberdeen, about 20 minutes to Bel Air
20 minute boat ride from my house to the bay
When are you moving up this way
Let me know if you're interested, I'll PM you my number
