The price of health insurance has been escalating at absurd rates for decades now. My wife, a nurse, worked with an HMO in the '80s. One of the first things she was asked to do when she got the job was to analyze costs and project them for 5 years and then to give a presentation.
In 1988, she predicted that the rise of cost for health insurance would 1) be unsustainable over the long haul and 2) only managed care (HMO's largely) would be able to bring the costs under control. She was right about the first of these things.
I'm going to assume you're objective as I didn't see any perjoratives in your post to suggest that you're a right-winger who's lost all sense of objectivity. Do correct me if I'm wrong about you and you are in la-la land about objectivity.
If you're objective you'll want to know where the bulk of the costs and cost increases are coming from. As it's the political season, you'll especially want to know if it was what is derisively called Obamacare that is responsible for the bulk of these costs.
If you're all of those, you'll want to read and you will find interesting the following article:
http://www.cleveland.com/open/index....to_rise_b.html
It's written for Ohioans and it's, in general, about group health premiums. But the article's guidance and conclusions are pertinent for the indivdual / family health insurance market and for the country as a whole also.
