A small yacht was engulfed in flames and eventually sank into the South River yesterday afternoon off the coast of Quiet Waters Park south of Annapolis.
Before the flames consumed the boat its occupants were rescued by another boater. No one was injured.
Officials estimated the boat to be between 20 and 30 feet long. The yacht sank as a Coast Guard rescue boat attempted to extinguish the flames with foam. The cause of the fire and a damage estimate were unavailable. The Coast Guard is handling the incident.
