Dad never really gave us vebal advice. He just taught us by his actions. But the one liner that he did use more then once was
No Se Dice Nada!
Great advice that has gotten all 5 boys and 6 niece/nephews into and out of alot of trouble.
when my Brat / (daughter) was 15... I was tic'ed off at her for something she did .. she comes back with "Dad your always on my case about this, that and the third..!" .....I am still trying to figure out what the third was..
My grannie could knock the froth off a pint of Guinness at 100 yards with a weeping willow switch........
Another one i heard when I hit legal drinking age
Just like a skunk Up all night and come home all stinky
That stemmed from the area where I spent my summers It was nicked named snatch ally and I don't recall a single kidnapping![]()
My old man would make me go get his belt (that was always a long walk to his bedroom to go fetch it) then he would say
"This hurts me more than it hurts you"
I always thought Yea right give me the belt
Dad to the boys of the house. By God,ya'll have sh-t for brains or what!
Mom to the house gang, Go pick a switch each! You never knew which one was going to be use on your own @ss and you had better pick a good one!
Good ol' dad was full of good advice.
About getting into fights: "It takes a bigger man to walk away from a fight, than to get into one." And, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall."
About drinking as a teenager: "I found some of your beer in the barn. I guess if you're old enough to drive, you're old enough to drink. But if you do any more drinking, you won't be doing any more driving."
He once told me this joke and I suspect for a reason: "A little dog was standing by a railroad track. A train came by and ran over it's tail. The dog spun around, and the train ran over it's head. Moral of the story, don't lose your head over a little piece of tail."
About my first vehicle purchase: "Buying a new car is the worst investment you can ever make. When you drive it off the lot, it's already worth $500 less than you paid for it."
