The mater's begin here. The speculators fools are running ramped with paper tigers in this market. I am tired of waisting my money at the pumps. And now I have to help bail out fanny and freddy. Let see here.....200 billion dumped 60 days ago. 25 billion + for freddy and fanny. On top of this 5.00 per gal @ the pump. What am I made of ?? Money or something. Shave the 60 dollars a barrel off the speculation price and we are back to good ole days. And please remove that woman from her commanding position. She has proven what we thought all along. Where is newt when you need him????
is what Reagan was thinking when he said, "Government is not the solution to the problem, it is the problem".

Guys, we are in deep s--t. Lets not complicate things too much. If energy is expensive and in short supply, lets develope more.

The passion shown in this thread gives me some hope that reason will prevail.

The best I could get out of your responses is that their is a speculative bubble created by the tight supply/demand equation. Did you note the fall in price when Bush removed the Executive Ban on offshore drilling? Pelosi refuses to lift the Cogressional ban.

The key to ending the bubble is to increase supply. Simply lifting the ban on drilling and encouraging oil exploration will cause the price to fall even before oil is brought to market.

Perhaps reform of the Enron Loophole will be of benefit. I hope so.

It is difficult for us to understand all that is going on. But we better try or we will be run over.

    Rocky & T-Bone

    I see it like this:

    We are ALL Crackheads...

There is one dealer in da hood, we'll call him Rocky...Rocky Fella.

In the other 'hood, there is another dealer, we'll call him "T-Bone" Pickins.

Well, Rocky and T-Bone have done a great job at getting all of us hooked on the "stuff". Then, Rocky decides he wants T-Bone's business... so it starts... and when it's over, the price of crack has quadrupled to all us crackheads. We ***** and ***** about the price of our crack... but we keep buying it. Rocky gets rich, REAL RICH...while T-Bone makes a nice chunk of change too; but he has a plan to get back at Rocky... He has a top-secret drug that is better than the crack he has been dealing for all these years... so he starts his crusade to tell us how bad Rocky is, how good his stuff is and to win the PR race to trillion and Trillions of our dollars. They pay those dimestore dealers on the street corner to control the market through inflated demand and decreased supply... and the masses of crackheads start doing anything for a fix. Meanwhile, they line the pockets of their "cartel brothers" to show them how good it can be... the "cartel brothers" buy into their story and start living the highlife... buying cities, building islands to build new cities... trade in camels for jets...ahhh, life is; how you say, "good". Meanwhile, Rocky and T-Bone have managed to get one side hooked on the crack and the other side hooked on the cash.

Stay tuned for Chapter 2, "The Phatom Menace" starring Barak Huessein Obama...

Gotta luv a good Rocky & T-Bone story.

    Bert-

As I understand it....when Enron was in favor with just about every senator and congressman in Washington, they managed to have the existing laws within the SEC changed to allow them to invest in any commodity markets without limitations and also do so through third parties which basically hid their real position in the market. Up to that point, I understand there were established investment limits in place and that dealings through third parties had to be disclosed and transparent.
