Electronics flush mount
Well, another weekend I have to work and the boat is sitting in the driveway waiting to get ready for the water. I bought a new stereo so the kids could have some entertainment when we are on the water, but my dash was covered with 2vhf's, gps, and sounder. What do I do? Well after fishing with a few guys on the board and noticing how nice their rigs looked with the electronics flush mounted, I decided to do it to mine. When a better time while getting paid. So while at work today I cut a piece of stainless (scrap of coarse) and just so happened to have my electronics out in the truck, so I brought them in and cut out holes to mount them in, made it really easy using the plasma cutter at work. Primed it up and painted to match my guage panel. Finished my HARD!! day at work, got home and removed my glove box from the console, and cut out a hole for my new plate to fit. Sorry didnt get a before pic but here is the final. Tomorrow I am going to relocate my glove box, and possibly recover one of my seats that cracked from too much sun and not enough time on the water. It was a very easy project if anybody is thinking about it.

Looks to me like that was some time well spent at work!
The dash looks great, nice and clean with the flush mounted electronics.

thanks.
I roughed up the surface, primed it with a metal primer, then used a metal textured paint, with a rubber base. Its kind of like an undercoating.

Nice job. How do you like the Furunop GPS?

I like it, have had it for a couple of years. I didnt know a whole lot about chartplotters thats why I bought this unit (standard gps) plus on a limited budget this unit was very affordable and had the furuno name on it. Now after being on a few boats with them and have a better understanding, I am thinking about upgrading and getting one and keeping the gps for a backup or to run td's.

Thanks. I have a Furuno Fishfinder and was planning on getting a new Furuno GPS. My Raymarine still works, but it looses fix every now and then. Gets frustrating.

Really nice job Tuna. The finish on the panle is sweet. If you are still having room issues you might try doing a remote mount. Not sure what type of boat you have, but my stereo is mounted inside the cabin and I have a remote control mounted on the helm. Keeps the stereo in a dry spot, and still allows for easy operation. The remote keypad is probably 2" X 3".

Thanks, I bought one of the stereos in the water proof enclosure and mounted on the gimble provided with it. So now I just have a vhf and my stereo up there. Will see how it works, I have a seafox center console and if I dont like it I may mount it down in the bathroom ( mine came with a remote). thanks for the tip Graceland
