    East coast long range boat

Any idea of why there are no long range boats on the east coast? Like the ones out of San Diego. Seems to me if there was one based out of NJ or NC it would present a great opportunity for people to fish the majority of the east coast for a wide variety of species they might not otherwise ever have a chance to catch. Just for the record, if any of you Capts. out there decide to take a shot at it I want in on the maiden voyage Tight lines

I would think it's because we have great fishing so close to shore. Also, they can go down the coast and out Just my thoughts.

    WEATHER..

I would think the volatile unpredictable weather in the Northeast would make these 5-21 day trips tough as well, out here most of the trips down south in Mexico out of San Diego have pretty decent weather, There are occasions when they get beat up, but normally it's pretty nice.
Also the quantity and quality of fish.. On a good trip out here they literally have dozens of Yellowfin and Wahoo FROTHING behind the boat, with many YFT going well over the 100lb size, In the Canyons you can get a nice bite at night but nothing even close to what happens on those S.D. trips and you mix in the Dorado and Yellowtail and they can load up, don't see that happening in the canyons on a big stationary boat.
A big boat doing 2-3 day trips with a per person rate would probably do ok if they hit a weather window..

Indeed a longer range trip would get you to where the big bigeyes and allisons hang out past Hydrographers. Yes it could be a slam dunk and wild action but you are still stuck with a three fish per man limit when you reach the dock... The idea has been bantered around some. MAybe somebody will pull the trigger one day...

definately has to do with the weather. relatively speaking, i'm sure san diego doesn't have the kind of weather the east coast has during the winter months. even if you could get out there, it would be cold as hell.......or heck. ......since hell is hot.

Some reasons to consider are the 3 fish limit per trip (YFT), boat limits on BFT, and inability to tank up on that much live bait. There are double overnight trips offered on some of the party boats that could be a good alternative, if you take them a the right time you have a shot at some variety.
