    duolock snaps

In Jan 07 Motorboating an author suggests the use of duolock snaps to attach plugs, spoons and lures to the line. He says snaps but no swivels. I heard that a snap or wire loop will enhance to action of a trolled spoon, but have always heard that bucktails have better action when tied to the line.Snaps would be a lot easier if they work as well. He says to use the lightest available for the line you are using. Anyone have an opinion , will a bucktail work as well ?

I tie my bucktails directly to my leader. Sometimes I use a Uni knot and also now and again I tie a perfection loop.

I never attach any hardware to a jig, spoon etc. Tie line directly to the lure. I know its easy for change outs but.......

epp when jigging storm shads in the upper bay. A mono loop knot gives better fall action. The shad pivots in the loop faster then a direct knot. Now buck tailing is a direct knot. This case is cast, sink, retrieve. Top water plugs again are tied direct knot. Jigging sling silvers I use a small snap, and a shinny one for quick change due to tide currents. Just my style in the shallow upper bay area. We have shads, bucks and slings already tied with a surgeons loop to the non action end. Just cut and re tie with a uni or improved cinch. The fish targeted are under 15 pounds

When fishing out of a small boat like I have , 17ft , I don't have alot of space for too many rods . When fishing the CBBT and the possibilty of running and gunning to get on fish , I will tie a snap to the end of flouro leader that has been tied to my braided line by way of uni to uni . I've been in a situation where the fish came up on top and were slamming top-water plugs and I could switch very easily from jumbo bass assassin to a big Lonley Angler and be right on the fish . I also pre-tie alot of jig and dropper fly rigs with a snap on the bottom , dropper loop for loop to loop connection for fly or small jig , and a loop at the top for attaching to my swivel on another rod . I've never had too many problems rigging this way .
