In asking around the dock, it seems to me that most captains that i asked, do NOT use radios with DSC/MMSI capabilities. I have to admit that i am curious why it does not seem as popular as one might expect. Maybe i misunderstand the use of MMSI, but in addition to the safety aspects, i believe it allows "private" calling from radio to radio (through the use of DSC)?
