I agree with your coment to "stay with the boat". However i strongly feel that if your stuck and someone offers you a ride to shore TAKE IT! Tom

This was tragic and I by no means want to criticize anyone, but this is also an example of why you should have a vhf radio, cell phone or another way to personally call the coast guard. Also this is a good example to have a Boat US or Seatow membership. Even stranded in Indian River Bay- they will still come help you get pulled off the sandbar. I think they refer to it as "soft grounding".

It is Sea Tow for me....amd all though I have never used it...and hope I never will....it is worth the 125/year
