    Good luck to your son!!
I'm sure it will be an experience!
As far as the quiet house, I'm sure that it will take a little time to adjust.

I'm sure that you are a proud pop!!

    MOTIVATED!!!

Good luck to him. I spend my glorious vacation there in the summer of 1987, he should be glad he is going now. I was dumb and left in June. HOT is an understatement. He will be a completely different man when he returns. It changed my life for the better. I needed dicipline in my life at the time. It is something very special, that unless you have been there is nothing you can compare it too. The Marines are special, you are never an ex Marine you are ALWAYS a former MARINE! OOHHRAH!! When he writes, the first 2 weeks are when he will experience the homesickness, that is when most do, once he gets past that he will be too busy to think of anything else. Just tell him to stay MOTIVATED, that word sums it all up. MOTIVATION!! His first experience they will keep them awake for many hours, they will be come tired and vulnerable, that will get them to the weakest point then they will begin to build them, it starts immediately. Tell him we all said thank you. It is a very special experience, after a while you will begin to see the change in his letters. My grandfather was at Iwo Gima and watch the flag being raised. that was my motivation.
