What rods are you speaking of and what line class are you gonna use. The drag settings will certainly vary with gear size. One thing for sure is the proper drag setting and a SHARP HOOK will get em most of the time if nobody pumps em off. Give us more specific info and we will answer your questions accordingly. ya its me well be useing 80lb line on 50 class rods and also on my tld 25s ill be useing 30lb test thanks and on my 80 class ill be useing 100lb

Generally the rule is 25-33% of the line test. Put the line through the guides. Set it to a light drag and pull around 30 feet or more off the reel a few times to get it "warmed up." Then use a drag scale and pull the line off the reel. For 100 lb, 25-33 lbs of drag (I'm sure some guys go higher) 80 lb, 20-27 lbs and 30 lb, about 8-10 lbs, all at strike. You may find you like higher or lower settings. This is the procedure I think most guys use.
