With his credentials as commander-in-chief now burnished to a high gloss, the prospects of his defeat in 2012 by a GOP contender seem diminished.

This, of course, is as undeserved as his being the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. But America is a funny place, for sure. Leon Panetta probably had more to do with this than anyone else.

But then, lots of contradictory and illogical things seem to come into play when America chooses its leaders. If it happens, Obama being re-elected in large part as a consequence of the final relief of a decade of frustration by the American electorate who were forced to watch their nation lurch headlong down each successive rabbit trail and bleed itself to the point of exsanguination by it's own fury-induced mistakes will be the poster child of the nonsensical American political system.

Transforming a decade of failure, incompetence and ruination into an undeserved electoral victory is about as illogical as outcomes come. But then Bush was re-elected in 2004 after having ignored the warnings of OBL's intended attacks and then invaded the wrong country in blind rage.

I guess we get the government we deserve. I guess that makes us responsible for it too.

I for one won't vote for Obama, no matter what he does now. Finally, killing one of our automatons that we created and then couldn't control won't change that one bit.

Jon, did you know that Saddam was a CIA asset before he took over the government in Iraq in a successful coup? Did you know the CIA funded his little band of cutthroats just as we funded OBL? Did you know that we provided him with the chemical precursors for his military gas production?

There's a stong parallel between Saddam and OBL in that we created them out of expediency and then had to pay for our expedience later, the mosters we create often go rogue.

There are other examples too. All I'm saying is that it's the wrong way to go about things. Expediency turns out to be not so expedient after all. Just look at our nation today in its sorry state and then tell me you're pleased at how well the war on terror is working out. We're just about sucked dry.
