There are great people working hard to help out kids in need and you want to say that the kids that they are helping don't really need it. That they should be out in the wood playing?

I agree with you about most of the kids these days. They are not out playing in the swamp and living the outdoors. Hell my mother would make me take all of my clothes off and hose me down in the front yard, before I was allowed to come in the house.

We left the house in the morning and ran like hell to make it home before the street lights came on. I know what you mean about that.

I was brought up with a mother that stayed home and my father was home every night.

What about all the kids that don't have a home or if they do they don't want to come home because their drunk ass father is going to beat them to make himself feel better. Thats what this is all about, not the kids that have a structured home life. It's for the kids that really need a helping hand to show them that there is hope and not all the people out there are against them.

I must admit that your post right here made me go and kick down a very small amount of money, for that I want to thank you.

I tried to do it earlier today and got a bit confused on how to send it and gave up. Well after reading your post above, I made sure to figure it out and get er done.

marty you need to take that bi-polar medicine they told you to take. you keep making statements that i havent made as if they are a quote. they are not. im not derailing anything nor am i trying to. im sure there will be pictures of "YOU" with smiling children. you always seem to post those pictures. my point is why does it take $200,000 dollars? whats next years budget? $250,000? new uniforms again...............it just seems like the smallest act of kindness or help isnt possible anymore without a budget, an agenda and a uniform. we as adults who i dont think grew up this way sure have adopted it as an avenue for what we do today. it is entertaining however to see how people really think when they lose their cool on here. especially when you enter the word "CHILDREN" in the mix. politicians have been crafting this type of agenda thinking for years. it works. as im sure the boys and girls club of north carolina works. for all those that think calling me names answers the question.........get off your soap box. im sure there are more that would like to comment but fear any thinking outside the box "no pun intended" will only lead to ridicule. read your history, thats what we do to everyone that speaks against the majority. peace. hope you raise all the money. oh, one more thing. how many times do you see one politician accuse the other politician of voting against education, voting against children, voting against healthcare? cmon, is it really that simple? my guess after reading some of the responses on here, people are that dumb. they cant think past the 20 second sound bite. just an observation.

If your just talking about the amount being too high, How much do you think a boys and girls rec center needs? I curious what you think their budget should be. Consider mortgage taxes fuel water, electric, food for the kids, salaries for the staff, general maintenance , expansion etc.

Hubris, there is a big difference between those who come up in a lean environment with loving,caring and nurturing parents and those who are suffled back and forth from one foster home to another.

Poor and disadvantaged aren't always the same.

Alex: It seems it I read all the previous posts and responses you were trying to say that money does not fix problems when raising childern but loving hard working caring parents make the difference no matter what their financial situation is. If this is your message I could not agree more. I was raised by working class parents in Detroit, MI not far from downtown but my parents made sure we got out to the country to fish and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible plus spent many hours standing on the side lines during our early years playing sports. My was a disabled veteran from Omaho Beach and spent the better part of my youth in a wheel chair and got a clerks job with the federal government and never made more than around $6000 a year but we never felt poor ever. He often told me he was lucky to survive the Omaho Beach invasion at 20 years old and all that really mattered to him was his wife and children. We never understood this when we were younger but certainly do now and deeply appreciate how hard my parents worked to make sure we were blessed in what really counts. Having said all this the one thing outside my parents was the YMCA that offered us a alternative to the streets of Detroit and was our home away from home and spent countless hours there in my youth. For those that do not have loving parents such as I did god bless those that take the time and effort to provide a enviournment for children where they can also have a home away from home like the YMCA did for me and my brother. Alex: I think you are correct in that money does not substitute for a positive family life but many many children just plain do not have this in today's world and I would like to make a $100.00 pledge to the fund if I can get a mailing address to send a check to. It does take money to run any type of program and from what I see this is nothing short of a great cause to help those children have a place to go to like the YMCA was for me. I hope I read this right and even if I may have missed the point it is still a great thing those involved are doing to help.
