that all these budget cuts are domestic?! Why can't we cut the crap out of our foreign spending/aid?
First year...10% across the board, every country.
Second year....another 10%.
Third year.....10%
....until we cut our foreign aid by 50%. How is this hard? Can we please take care of ourselves for once?!
It's the same idea as taking care of the worthless and extending unemployment benefits. Until we stop taking care of people and MAKE them take care of themselves, they aren't going to. They are going to keep taking the lazy, easy way of letting someone else take care of them.

Most repubs who call for "slashing foreign aid" fail to realize that foreign aid accounts for less than ONE PERCENT of our National Budget. Often this foreign aid cash is used to get other countries to do our dirty work or to get other countries to fall in line where we want them. Remember, Bush's "surge" was not what won the war in Iraq, instead it was Bush's plan to start paying $$$$ bribes in the millions to each of the tribal leaders who were fighting against the U.S. forces.

Now, if you really want to head towards a balanced budget you have to take aim at our Military. The spending here is at least 20% of the budget and this does not include a lot of costs. We spend/budget TEN TIMES more on our military than the second biggest military in the world (China) and what we spend is equivalent to to what all other countries in the world spend COMBINED.

I do agree the defense budget needs to take a huge hit. The cuts need to be from all over. Everyone needs to do their part and sacrifice.

Sure, I think it's a load of horseshit. The bill doesn't cut enough. $61 billion is a drop in the bucket. We need a huge reduction in govt spending across the board minus education and social security. I'm fine with the cutting of COLA for SS, for now, but that's about it. We do need SS reform but that's another story. This budget thing is really only a start. We need to cut the size of government to really get this spending under control.
IRS...gone, Dept of Education...gone, SS eventually needs to be gone, huge cuts in military waste(there's A LOT), huge medicaid/medicare reform, EPA....gone, immigration reform....think you get the idea.

We need to fix this now. Our kids deserve a better, more stable future.
