    From the link provided:

"This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.

Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage — with dramatic effect, no doubt — and tell the story.

“What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags,” a Republican official emailed. “We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag.”

I’m not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someone’s patriotism here."

    Thanks for posting that.

There are a number of groups that those flags could be donated to though. They could use them for future political campaign events, veteran's groups would love to have them, civic groups, boy scouts/ cub scouts, The National Park Service who sells them in their souvenir stores...any number of groups would have greatly appreciated them. I am sure the Republicans will see to it that they don't end up in the landfill.

Their is also a proper way to respectfully dispose of a flag that has outlived it's usefulness (which is not the case here) and tossing them into a dumpster ain't it as I'm sure you're well aware of. It just goes to show you the callousness of this group and how little our Nation's flag actually means to them. It's nothing more than a party favor to them...just one of the many decorations that needs to be discarded after the festivities.

The constitution is pretty clearly in favor of freedom and personal choice. To insinuate that discarding flags in the trash is a violation of the constitution, is to insinuate that the constitution is not a document that guarantees freedom of choice and personal liberties.
