I am about to start the courtroom saga of my divorce. This has been going on for over a year and I cant wait to get it over. Who has been through it and what should I expect? The spousal support is what I am dreading. There is no set formula for it. I was married for 8 years and she did not work for seven. We have two daughters that are 8 and 4. I know I am f...ed so please don't remind me. I appreciate any imput and support. Thanks

Yup. I have a lot of clients going through it as well. I work in finance so I play a role in the parting of accounts, assets, etc.

My advice: don't be making any large purchases, taking bonuses, and hide whatever income you can. Sounds bad but is what it is.

I feel for ya man. I have a buddy going through it right now.

Get ready to hear some awful things about your self, some true, a lot lies. You should have a support group, not female unless she is there with her hubby, there for you. I don't know you or what led up to this but expect a lot of hurtful things to be said.

Im in New Jersey and have already been portrayed as a monster in a recent motion made by her. The thing that gets me is she wanted this and is trying to get me for everything. I am going through a business valuation now which is bullshit. The value of my business is subject to an accountants interpretation of a variety of factors including goodwill. She wants to kill the golden goose not just get the egg.

Ouch. Yeah NJ is pretty bad with the laws and how they interpret communal property. States vary but they'll look at the value of the business prior, net growth during the marriage period and come up with a "cost basis". Sucks.

On the bright side you're a free man now.

Been through two of them...my screen name isn't Agitated88 for nothing...hell before the divorce(s) it would have been "Happy88" or "Smiley88". All kidding aside...its a terrible thing and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy...my 2 cents are 1.) It will get better...eventually...2.) Always...I mean ALWAYS put the kids FIRST! And no matter how much of a $%*&@ she is...never...NEVER let them see it or hear you talk bad about her. I also agree with previous post...you need a sounding board and/or moral support...NOT FEMALE...thats like throwing Gizmo into a swimming pool...nothing good would come out!!! Good luck!!
