    Digital camera help -Broken?

Maybe with all the input on the other thread maybe someone can help me figure out whats wrong with me or my camera.

I currently use a Cannon 540 and love it but the problem that I seem to be having is that after I take a picture the status light by the viewing lense keeps flashing orange and it takes forever for me to be allowed to take another picture. Its quicker to turn it off and back on to take another than to let the status light run its course. I cleared the memory card and that use to help but now it has 5 pictures on it and its doing it again.

I had the same problem with my Nikon and that one was less than a year old and now it don't work at all.

I had another Canon powershot forget what model it is because its down in Jupiter for almost a year now so that probably don't work either but if I remember correctly it had the same problem.

    3 camera's in a year just sucks

Any suggestions is it a setting or just it being around the water?

something ain't right with the internal buffer. Are you shooing inraw or JPEG? try resetting everything or try to clear the buffer. It should take sever shots before it writes to the card

I've seen how you treat your camera that could have something to do with it.

My cameras that I have had for a while before feeding to swords or launching to the deck exhibited similar. Often battery related. Rechargables can only be charged so many times before they just don't cut it llike they used to... Just an idea...

I just think of the cameras and vids I have donated to the bottom of the ocean... I keep getting this mental picture of a bunch of amberjacks covering their kids eyes when it gets to the good part!

I did the reset all and even changed to picture size to a smaller size. It loads the preview now much quicker but it still goes to the black screen and the orange light flashes. Its a 512mb card.

I see no where where it tells me what format the picture is.

I do have rechargable batteries in it and have swapped them out for regular new batteries prior to today and it made no difference, but I will try again.

Guess I have to break out the owners manual and see if it says something about the status light...

    Thanks for the help!
