Fortunately I only wasted 30 seconds. When I heard Bill Maher say that taxes were at their lowest in 50 years I knew his "facts" were twisted and I didn't need to hear anymore.

The irony of your above statement and the fact that your online moniker is Bonehead is breathtaking in its completeness.

My problem is I'm too much of a black and White thinker. That is, does it really matter if taxes are higher or lower than they were 50 years ago?--- what do my kids care if some prior president increased defense spending in ( their minds) ancient history?---- what is black is black and what is white is white----
the fact of the matter is governmental expenses greatly exceed revenues for the federal government. Now I don't have a Ph.D. in accounting but it would seem to me this all the political rhetoric is BS--- how about this for a novel idea?--- increase revenue a little ( from taxes from everyone) and reduce spending alot---- pretty simple math in my book.
Obama's proposal to further reduce contributions to an almost bankrupt social security system in the name of increased consumer spending ranks right up there with the three great lies. On the other hand, refusals of the "haves" by not acknowledging the need to contribute to the "have nots" is equally ridiculous given their level of incomes and standards of living.
Oh well, it's the same ole, just a different day in bankrutpcy court.
