    NYBH,

Don't take it personally, you had many before you showed up that muddied the water for you. A word to the wise about "here", the more rural the area the "slower" you have to be. A quick, hard sell just won't cut it here. Once people see "who" you are, where you're from won't be nearly as important. It just takes time. In the past (before the slowdown) we had folk's coming in groves. Most were hell bent on making this place like where they just left from. First thing that happened was posted sign's, next no dog hunting, no gill nets, etc....... You know the things we all just grew up doing around here. My question to many was,"why did you move here"? This is rural NC, you didn't know that before came??? Not being a wise guy here, just being straight up. Frank

HEY FRANK, NO PROBLEM, I UNDERSATND WHAT YOUR SAYING AND YOUR IN ALL LIKELYHOOD RIGHT, ONE THING ABOUT BEING FROM N.Y., IS WERE ALWAYS IN A HURRY FOR WHATEVER REASON, AND USUALLY ARE LOUD AND RIGHT TO THE POINT, DON'T MEAN ANY HARM, BUT SOMETIMES I'M JUST NOT AWARE OF IT SO TO SPEAK.

I DON'T ROCK THE BOAT AND I SURELY WON'T WANT TO CHANGE THINGS LIKE YOU HAVE MENTIONED. I'M JUST LOOKING TO GET BACK TO WHERE I LIKE IT THE MOST, A NICE RURAL AREA WITH GOOD PEOPLE AND GOOD HUNTING AND FISHING, DOESN'T SOUND LIKE MUCH BUT IT HAS BECOME A HARD THING TO DO LATELY...

My old man used to say Long Island was a nice place to live until after the war. Then all the people from the city moved out to get away from "the city". Ever heard of Levittown?

The problem was, when they got here they started bitching about "What do you mean you don't have (fill in the blank)? In the city we had (same blank)." They dragged everything they were running from right along with them.

Then they ran to Florida. Need I say more?

Now they're running to the Carolinas. I pity you.

    NYBH,

Make no mistake, I don't pussyfoot around either. I live here because this is where I want to live. My life, like I have said before is "work, hunt, fish". There is no money here, wages are some of the lowest in the Country. With all that, I just can't help loving this place. Did I mention deer and bear in the backyard??? Frank

YES, I HAVE BEEN TO LEVITTOWN, A FEW TIMES, I HAVE ALLOT OF FAMILY BURIED OUT THERE ON THE ISLAND, I DO GO THERE STILL NOW AND THEN, BUT ITS JUST WAY TO BUSY FOR ME, NOT USE TO ALL OF IT, SO TO SPEAK.

ITS TIME TO MAKE A CHANGE AND MAYBE ITS EVEN TO LATE BUT THINGS JUST NOT RIGHT HERE ANYMORE AND THERE JUST HAS TO BE A BETTER PLACE, JUST GOT TO FIND IT, JUST AS LONG ITS NOT 20 BELOW AND 4 FOOT OF SNOW COME WINTER.
