    For a canal grand slam I think you need a saltwater catfish

    Everything is downsized on the canal.
    Just right so as not to tire ya out.

    I'll work on the catfish. Just have to let the shrimp baits mellow for a few days.

    Thats a Bamboo rod. Not a cane.

    Actually round these parts I think it was called a snapper rod.
    I did catch a snapper on it if you can call a 6" blue a snapper.

    I caught some small freshwater fish when I was a kid using bamboo rods

    Also I might have caught a canal catfish on a bamboo rod when I was kid also. I was fishing with my dad and older brother aboard an aluminum boat with no motor and we caught 2 catfish and 2 crabs total I think... but I don't remember if I caught something.

    I only remember after we returned the rental boat my dad bought a crab trap for us and we caught some

    Good memories

    pin fish / choffer (in the gulf)

    like ra said great bait they used to eat them also and were called sailors choice when they are real big..caught lots of groupers on them! nice work on the slam though!

    LMAO! We use to use bamboo rods in the lakes around SC and GA....ive caught alot of crappie on bamboo rods!
