Down here most boats are designed on a couple of pieces of paper with a little change here and there from the way Granddaddy and Daddy used to build them.

I know you've been in town for a few days, have you talked with Gary Davis at Jarrett Bay?

My company uses AutoCAD, which is a very powerful (and expensive) program. Are you looking to do the drafting yourself? Alot of our guys moonlight, if you need a drafter I could put you in touch.

If you are looking to play around yourself, I found this list of freeware CAD programs http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm#2D3DCADSystems

I've never used any of them, so can't say if any are good

There's also a shipbuilding program in there http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm#ship

D ...Can any of these guys turn a photo into something like one of those "conceptual" line drawings that you see in the mags for a hull not yet manufactured ??

Maybe... What are you looking to do?

I used to be pretty good with the program, but all our stuff is straight lines. Curves left me in the dust

    3D cad software

There is a program called Rhinoceros, it is a 3D cad program, used in all types of industrial design.
