Deeps Friday Rant 4/20

Ok I know they're gonna read it but they have had advance notice its commin... I love my passenegers. They are wonderful people. Smart, articulate, fun, caring etc... But they have been whiffing way way too many fish... Theres a letter between "N" and "P" and ugly it is... That nasty "O". lhave seen "O" fer just way too much. O fer 7 was just today...

I can see the dirty white boy sneaking on by but sails are pretyy easy and blues should be gimmies.... I spend months prepping for this annual pilgrimage to the fertile waters of the pocket. I tote a zillion pounds of everything we might need. I bend over backward to raise fish and have been even in way bad conditions and these guys are whiffing...
I'm not just ranting at them. I'll rant at myself. I must be talking with too thick of a bahamian accent cause my instructions are lost in the translation. Some how "pick up the rod, point at the fish, drop to free, drop back when it bites, count to whatever, and set the hook" is turning into "swing the rod all over, put pressure on and off, drop before he bites strike when hes not there..."

In actuallity it can only be expected when people who have been cooped up in the frozen north for months then are unleashed on this paradise... Big fish easily unnerve even the best of us so I'll leave the rant rating on these people at a low level...

The sailboats with their howling rigging are definately on the chopping block for the next rant...

deeps, i hear ya. listen, you already know this but let me say it pleeez, YOU ARE DOING THE LORD'S WORK.. so just sit back and enjoy what happens. it comes down to one simple thing because i too have been there and that is practice, practice, practice. maybe you should have a part of the trip time as practice session for that oh so easy procedure that comes so naturally to seasoned fisherpeople.

but anyway, it is a beautiful thing to be alive and to wake up on this side of the grass but AWFUL thing i agree to whiff - geez 0 fer 7, - were they really that bad - i guess 0 fer 7 speaks for itself. keep the faith BRO!

These people are having the time of their lives. We just got done wiping out a few pans full of strawberry groupers, wahoo sushi, conch fritters and they're beating the anejo back right now... I can't begin to get upset for real. This is heaven on earth here and we've laughed til it hurts since we arrived...
In all the years I have come here this has been probably the toughest fish we have ever had but with the quality of the people I have had every second is a memory making moment. For me my thrill is seeing that pointy sob raise to the spread and swat baits around.... I honestly don't care nearly as much about what reaches the transom or not. Again, these people are having the time of their life and thats the only important thing to me...
