Deep Fried Turkey
OK, Who deep fries their turkey?
I did one last year but since then a few things have changed...
I am wondering what type of oil you guys use. I know, I know... Peanut oil... Well my daughter is allergic to Peanuts so that it out... I have read mixed reviews on Cottonseed oil...
Just wondering if anyone has used Cottonseed oil at all or some other type of oil.
Thanks!

Canola oil is good too. What you want is oil with a flash point as high as possible.
I have deep fried for the last 5 or so years but am going to give this a shot this year http://www.amazon.com/Char-Broil-101.../dp/B001HBI7D8
I saw it in Home Depot over the weekend and did a little digging online today and it looks like the reviews are good. Takes a little longer but saves money and mess by not using oil.

Crab mustard is good
We deep fry one. Can't use peanut oil either b/c a family member is allergic. Canola or regular ol vegetable oil is what we use.

Sit down Shut up And fish
I believe most restraunts use a soy based oil.

Macadamia nut oil is a great alternative, it's just a little spendy. But once the turkey is done you can use it in your deep fryer for fish and chips as well.

The answer to your question is "Fat people". Don't listen to anyone that lives above the Mason Dixon line on this topic. The further south you go the fatter they get so listen to them. Hopefully someone from Florida will chime in and you'll know how to cook a pig as well.

Just took mine out of the deep fryer. 3min a pound and 5 min for the bird and it came out perfect. I injected mine with a garlic and herb marinade and it kept the bird really moist and what a great taste. First time doing this and I can definately see another in the very near future.
