There is no danger in there at all when you do it as long as we have... Its more dangerous unhookin gogs from sabiki rigs...
Yeah I watched it again and didn't see the lure but maybe you're right and I need to get my eyes checked out. As far as the stuff in the pit goes, what would you do if it was a 500 lbs. blue marlin. I'm sure in all your years of fishing you have had one go a little crazy on the wire. Would you dump the leader and walk around the back of the chair to get to the other side? Would you move the stuff in the middle of the fight? Who would be on the controls? It doesn't make sense to me and that's my point. You are a well read and respected person on this site and there might be someone that looks at that video and all your response and thinks its OK to do things "your" way. It would be a different story if your mate tripped over that cooler or blue bucket while still holding the leader of any fish. If you're going to tell people that you are someone that helped get this site off the ground then you should be held to a high standard of information given.

For the last time its a rat white. On hooking up we knew it was a dinky fish of whatever flavor. When we get big blues that cooler gets moved. I maneuver the boat to put the fish in the port corner. On those big girls we let them wear them selves down and don't try to take em hot. That kind of shit will get your name in the newspaper all too often. The list of guys that have leadered too hot fish brings with it a list of widdows and fatherless kids almost as long.
Control the fish don't let them control you... If they're big fish and still green, let em work that piss and vinegar out before trying to doink it. You don't see people running around in our boat. Eveything is slow and methodical. They'll cool down eventually... Then and only then corner em...
