The high point in my fishing world over the last two months was catchin crap off the dock I hadn't caught since I was a kid... Oh yeah.. Thats braggin...

Ten things wrong? I see a whole lot of things right... I see eleven rods unloaded, leaders cleared and all stowed. I see smooth transfer from holder to chair as permitted by that tournament. I see the fish hit the deck in three minutes... (That might just be why its heated up)... I see a gaff holstered on visual that its not big enough to kill. There is slime on the deck... Blood if any is minimum. Fish did just have a 12/0 jobu run through its jaw but no gill or gut intrusion. I see it measured and sent head first back to the sea. I see happy guys who just caught a marlin... For the angler, his first...
Things wrong? Yeah the fish is pissed and we didn't do a good job covering its eyes to calm it down. Rod is leaning on gunwale (not deck) but unloaded and ready to stow.Yeah it took a few seconds to find an empty rod holder (36 Luhrs don't have all that many to stow eleven of em)... I see fish going nuts. Our fault for catching it too quick (wanted to get back looking for important fish).
The one thing I see wrongest here is that for the guys on that boat it was a thrill, a good time they'll always remember. Then because you've got some dreamt up issue with me all you have succeeded in is shitting all over their good time...

    Hard time in PM?

First off thats the appropriate place to take arguements. The threads ain't the place for that... Hard time? I lit into you for taking unfounded potshots at me... (BY THE WAY A STRAT IS A $200 CHEAP GUITAR NOT A $20,000 VIOLIN) I pretty much said the same thing on this thread as in my PM to you long ago... Whats your issue with me? I've never done diddly to you or anyone else unless i get on someone for bashin which clearly is what you're tryin to do here...
Other sites are for that juvenile crap. Lets see who can insult best bullshit. This place tries to set itself a notch above that petty childish behavior...
Never do I shit on someone for any level of fishing skill. From first time worm dipper to the globetrottin grander slammers they're all good in my book. Old or young it doesn't matter. Fishing at any level is fun. I'm no better or worse than anyone else. Never say I am. I write in color, thats my perogative. I havn't drank in nearly a decade and the web has become my "bar". Don't like it? Don't read it. Simple...
That right there.. are very wise words grasshopper.
    Well put Deep.

    Question Paul

Serious question for you Paul... I'm trying to understand why you felt the need to tell the guest on the boat to "get his fat ass in the chair"? Do you always show your crew and guests that level of respect?

You were fortunate that "Mr. fat ass" didn't smack the living shit out of you after you released that white to sink to the bottom. Now, any time that gentleman goes to show his buddies or family the video of the first marlin he ever caught, he's got some guy half his size calling him a fat ass on the video. I'm sure that will provide a wonderful memory for him to play over and over.

If I were the boat owner and you ever spoke to me, any of my family, guests, or other hired crew members on board that way, you would be fired on the spot without an ounce of hesitation. Insulting and yelling at your guests (being "colorful" and joking or not) is not how professionals conduct themselves.

i wouldn't worry about "Mr Fat Ass", he is the most laid back friendliest person around. Mr Fat Ass is big boy and I am positive his feelings are not hurt. All crew on that trip are very close friends. And we always have a blast with Paul.

It is what it is Mr. teddyp. Deep has probably forgot more about fishing than you will ever know. If you ain't fishin you ain't f&%kin up. Real life isn't always pretty and perfect.

    Get a life..

Its a fair question guys... I don't mind answering... If the boss brings aboard guests who my crew or I do not know well. It is always the polite and cordial route. Sir and Mam are protocol for them, often preceeded by Mr. X or Ms.Y... As friendships develop formality is replaced by non malicious needling and nicknames. For example, I would venture a guess that few of the people I know call their spouses by their proper names. More often it becomes a pet name.

When people develop FRIENDSHIPS nicknames become the norm... People on this site often call me Deep... Aboard I get different ones. Captain Crusty, Ol Grouchy, Skip, and even a few that don't bear repeating on a family rated site. If you had friends there Davey you'ld understand that.

If you have a group of unfamiliar people, formality is instinctual... Formality however takes a lot of the fun out of fishing. Are you suggesting, we should wear tuxedos out there? Though I had never fished with this group as a whole, more specifically marlin fished, does not mean however that we have not been friends for a very long time. Cussin and non malicious needling are part of it. We could put on a facade of polite bullshit but then we are not being honest with each other or ourselves... Are we? Earthy and crude go hand in hand with making fishing fun.

Not to worry Deepy, I have my share of friends, and probably 80% of them would have body slammed you if you ever spoke to them that way. I prefer to respect my friends, and they show me plenty of respect in return.

To each their own I suppose. Good luck with that technique of yours.
