    Dead rise 16 vs 21

    I need your opinions, deadrise 16 vs 21. I am considering buying a 25'-28' chesapeake style boat. I am interested to know if anyone can offer an exprience opinion on the difference in ride particularly between the Parker XL and XLD hull . There are many boats to choose from with shallow deadrise, Maycrafts, Parkers, Steiger crafts but not too many deep V's. My gut is telling me to stick with a deep V as I will be using this boat for pleasure as well as fishing. I appreciate any help. Thanks Mike

    Depends on your use and where..deep v is great in heavy water,not so great stationary in swells, shallow deadrise gives you that pounding ride but is softer offshore stationary..like i said..depends on primary use,Parkers a heavy boat so weight will compound the characteristics..

    Thanks, I know the basic ideas between a shallow and deep V, I guess I will just need to locate a boat to test ride. I do my fishing in the chesapeake but its not uncommon for 2-3's and it can get a little rough around Solomons in the spring. Just want to make the right choice I'm not getting any younger

    If your a bay fishermen you'll get away with it, offshore, you'll wish you had the dearise, Also parkers are light boats not heavy boats, in the 25 ft model CC hull weight is only 4700LB that is light for that size, my 26 CC dry weight no motors is 5600, thats 900 lbs of fiberglass light, thats a lot of glass.

    Parker with rattle your brain if you want to run in anything other then light chop

    parker makes a tough little boat,i repaired one that was in a bad accident a few years ago-the boat popped off the trailer,and slid down the parkway-minimal damage for a big hit like it took...a grady,well...there would've been pieces to pick up.
    the modified v hull parkers ride like anything else with a modified v hull-gradys included-they will pound the living hell out of you in any kind of chop,especially the "short chop" in bays...anyone telling you anything else is sadly mistaken.

    the deep v hulled parkers,never been on one-can't give an opinion...

    if you were asking me,what my opinion was,as to what boat to purchase,i would tell you to avoid the modified v hulls-reason being,if you're gonna use the boat offshore,which eventually you will,you're gonna be sorry you didn't go for a better designed boat...

    let me add this:

    ride is all relative-meaning-if you had a 17 whaler,and you took a ride in a 22 grady,you're gonna believe that grady is the best riding boat ever made-untill someone gives you a ride in a 23 sea craft,then,you're gonna believe that's the best-it all changes as you experience different boats.unfortunatley,owner's are not very quick to give an honest answer when asked about their boat and how it rides-ask a guy with a modified v parker-his reply is usually "you have to slow down",these guys like owner's of gradys "dance around" the question,"my boat's more stable,than a deep v,that's why i bought it",that's another great reply...i've fished on regulators,contender,wellcraft's,sea crafts,fountains,yellowfin's -basically,i've fished them all,i've never noticed these boats rolling excessivley,nor,did i believe anyone of these were "tippy"...do yourself a favor,take a look at an older grady,parker,steiger,maycraft-etc...take a real close look,pay close attention to anywhere there's a radius-look closeley,i can guarantee you will see alot of stress lines-this is the end result of glass "working",flexing,it's not due to a smooth ride...bear this in mind...
    another thing is,when you give an honest review of a boat,a review based upon experience,experience with both construction and actual experience riding in the boat,owners are quick to make the claim "you're bashing",when in reality,you're giving an informed opinion...

    there ya have it...
