PEJ,no updates were made that I know about or they told me about and I'm shure they would have. I'll ask when I go in for service.
Flatbottom, The first pump was replaced under warranty for not starting when it was hot, the second (lift)was for this problem of intermittent no power, that didn't help so they replaced the O rings in the same lift pump thinking they cut one on installation and it was sucking air . that wasn't it. then they replaced the fuel filter which I was replacing weekly for a wile thinking I got some bad dsl.and NO I have not used any red or bio in my truck.they though I might have.I did ask about water in the fuel and have purged the bottom of the filter. The water in fuel lite has never come on.the service manager said there was no water alarms on the dionostic readout. Dodge dsl are not popular in this area and the dealer doesn't have a ton of dsl trucks to service and only have 1 mechanic when I was there last. They may have add more tech guys since then.
gofsn, can I check for voltage with my fluke meter? is there a test piont or a relay I can check voltage at?and what should it be 12v?
I like my dsl truck and if I can get this fixed I'll keep it for the machine shop and buy something else for personal use but I'll alway own a truck.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
    Jeff

Alldata has a TSB on a computer recalibration. It is an engine performance update used when the transmission is in OD.

Remember this is a throttle by wire system. the gas pedal is a sensor input telling the computer how to control engine performance . faulty sensor could give you odd-ball issues.

Torque converter? I have been thru 2 in 156,000 miles with my 99 dodge 2500 diesel.both before 30,000 miles.Sounds like this could be a tranny related prob.

Transmissions are my thing. Does not sound like a bad converter.

my ttranny is doing some weird stuff.it is making a howling noise when in gear, sometimes it will jump in and out of overdrive before staying put.It also does this on the 1-2 shift sometimes.

The cummins will eat or any diesel will eat transmissions if you bump the fueling pressure with a edge or other product to enhance the performance. Change the high pressure valve in the trans. and replace the shaft with a custom shaft to extend the life of the trans. Sounds like you have a faulty high pressure valve or clogged high pressure valve in the trans. 900 ft lbs of torque will do damage. The simple edge plug in will give you a number close to 900. A good trans man is a good friend when building up a cummins....LOL A nice 250 wet shot will put you in the 11's at the track

I have heard the cruise control module is a faulty gremlin causing a similar "lack of pedal" you mentioned above. do a google search for turbo diesel register .org and join.....many fine men on this site, with lots of knowledge of the cummins 5.9
