This is bad for not only Our sport, but it also directly affects the cost of Boatbuilding. Resins and epoxies as well as most acrylics are all petroleum derived and as such, will cost more. Not only the cost to get in the game be outrageous, so will the expense to stay in the game. Wow, not a good thing if Ya' got 3 or 4 hangin' on the back!

I wish they would build some platforms off Florida that way we will have some new fishing habitat. The gov. suspended our local artificial reef program due to lack of funds. So I believe that would be a benefit two-fold. The UAE is using our extra fuel demand caused by the war to screw us over and over. I say lets start charging them a "protection fee" for keeping their oil fields safe. It's a sad time in our countries economy right now, but as history has shown every low is followed by a rebound.

Its going to be somthing to see. If fuel goes over 4.00 a gallon then I would have to say yes it will affect the tournaments this year with the average joe. the private boat owners with the big bank accounts will be able to fish but might restrict themselvs to certain tournamnets where they dont have to travel to far. on the other hand if they got the bank then what does it matter.

Its going to hurt the entire industry with less people coming to the shore to fish weather its charter, private, or from the beach. question is how the hell do we get out of this mess? What will make our economy come back?

i talked to a guy that has his boat in the bahamas on saturday. he told me they canceled the tournaments there. they dont run nearly as far. as for the statement about "if they got the bank" i think this economy is beginning to effect everyone. what will make it come back.......stop ALL the govt programs that give money to anyone. i dont care what is is. everything has risen to a new high water mark. the only relief most people see is getting on the band wagon. jmo!

I agree even the people with the bank I would think are gonna cut back on the tournaments. Its going to be interesting to say the least. The lucky ones are the guys who have the latest state af the art diesels that sip fuel. The boats that are burning 100 gallons/+ an hour are going to be hurting big time.
I would be courious to see what the big factory tournamnet rigs are going to be up to this year...viking, ocean, etc etc

I can guarantee someones economy ain't hurtin but it sure ain't ours. Look for another record 1st quarter for all the oil bastards this april. Hey but they ain't making any money. Gotta cover those salaries of the execs about a billion or 2 a year.
