does anyone have an opinion or thought as to who are the best, overall lesser known mates and captains in the offshore fishing game? and what makes them great at what they do? just curious because i heard names thrown around and i wonder how they got to where they are....

I would have to say that the Defiant is one of the best unknown boats around. They fish from Maine to the Keys. Both Jay and Adam have a wealth of knowledge about a variety of fishing from targeting GBFT in Maine and NC to Stripers in NJ to the NE Canyons to sail fishing in the Keys in the winter. In my opinion this is what makes a crew/boat truly great. If you only do one type of fishing or target one species of fish and do it every day, you better be good at it.
