"If at first you don't succeed, don't try skydiving"
Costa sunglass help
Im on my 4th pair of FA-11 Fathoms, I love the fit, but the grips on each pair have not held up. I wear them almost daily and after a while (less than a year) the grips around the ears kinda turns to mush and crumbles off.
Is there anyone with a tip or trick??, like coating the grips in some sort of hardner ( I was thinking of trying "hard as nails" woman product that I used to repair speakers with) but havent been willing to do it to a new pair yet.
It sucks to spend another 60 for a new set of grips. They were completely gone in my last pair. Here is a pic to see what I am talking about.
Thanks for the info, love the site!

Costa should take care of that for you without any questions. Go to their website under repairs and follow the directions. They have had trouble with those for quite a while. Most of the time they will send my office a new pair of temples and I will replace them for my patients or customers without them having to go without their sunglasses.

Anthony's Ark is a blowboater
Have you contacted Costa, perhaps they are covered under the warranty if they are less than a year old?
I have the same ones, I haven't experienced the same issue. But it sound like you wear yours a lot more than I do...

I'm not sure if she is still there but a year or so ago this lady was a great help to me and a couple of friends in getting repairs.

Got these last christmas, so they are a few days over a year old. Last time I had the problem they said it is $60 for repairs no matter what is wrong unless it is a factory problem.
I will try to call again and see what info I find.
Thanks for the help.

I had the same issue. They fixed/replaced the first pair. The second pair I didn't feel like sending them back again so I got some black heat-shrink tubing - the kind with the goo inside - and put the tubing over the crap that was falling off. A little heat and they were better than new. I used pliers to "crimp" the ends off. They don't look quite as nice but they work fine. I did the repair about 4 years ago. Gave the glasses to my 17 yr old son last summer when I purchased some 580s. The old ones are still going strong.

Stop staring at my Avatar.
Same problem with mine. A good friend of mine used to be their factory rep--she said it was a defect with the rubber part, that it reacted with sweat and sunscreen and turned crumbly. Sent mine back and got a new pair, no questions asked.
Good luck with them.

Thats what im talking about, I should have thought of that, I got some shrink right here beside me.
Thanks for the tip. I think I mite try it, its gotta look better than duct tape around it!
Edit (its not sunscreen that does it, I havent worn that in a few years) But Im pretty hard on them.
The costa # above has changed, new num on their website. Havent got anyone to answer yet but I hate being without them for a week or two.

Sit down Shut up And fish
As you know I'm pretty hard on my stuff. I've had several issues with Costa and each time they have handled it with replacement or free of charge repair. They've done what they said they were gonna do and that is rare.
How about those strawberries????
