Yep it's all real, I have a little inside scoop on it from a friend of mine. I think that it is the filming with the "fish eye" lens that does the affect of "not looking real" The person that filmed it said it was one of the scariest things he has done. All I can say is I'm not going to jump off a perfectly safe rock!
