    Contest: Most "Experienced" Pickup

Mine just hit 100k miles, and it ain't even broke in yet. Looks like it still belongs in the Ford showroom. But it got me wondering, how much can we ask of our trucks?

Now, I've seen pics of Marty's truck, but I've also seen Capt Daley toolin around town spittin oil and belchin fumes. So who's got the vehicle that would make the Sanford and Son hall of fame?

Winner gets 3 jars of Double D tuna.

One rule - it has to be your daily driver. No second vehicles or once a month job haulers...

So post your pics, state your case, and we'll let Surfergirl (who we know has fine taste in trucks) pick us a winner

    Capt. Brian,

You got that right, Chevy is the best truck out there....I didnt know they even made Fords anymore, who would buy one? A good friend has worked at the local Ford dealership for about ten years now, he always told me if I want a good deal he could hook me up on a F-250, I told him I would rather pay more and drive a Chevy. Finally this year after owning 2 F-150's both with engine leaks and problems, he bought a Tahoe, I told him I knew he would come around eventually. I bet he never buys another Ford, unless the dealership gives it to him and offers to pay for gas! My last Chevy 1500 I sold at 150K miles, never had any major problems with it went ahead upgraded to the 2500HD Crew, more room and towing capacity!!

308 thousand miles 1991 Ranger 4x4 well it used to be a 4x4 but it quit working. Wheel Bearing almost gone in the front but she keeps on going I have had the truck the last 7 years & have put well over the last 100 on it. But the good thing is I did trade out a nice paint job 3 years ago for a Charter truck has not been washed since the paint job.

    Its Over!

    Well consider this contest over.

For those who have not had the pleasure, allow me to present the Bruiser (aka Black Beauty)

    Stats / History:

    She is a 1986 Ford F-150 300ci straight 6, carburated w/manual choke, 4 spd, p/s (sometimes), P/b, 4wd, heavy duty suspension, gauge package.

    154,000 hard miles of work!

She was purchased new by my father for $14,500 or so, I think the sticker is still in the glove box, the only options were a guage package and the heavy duty suspension. no ac, no radio.

She was purchased when we lived in the Mountains to haul firewood, for the first two years of her life she was only driven up loggin jobs, on ungodly roads to cut up tree tops for our firewood. She also was driven in snow because it was our only 4wd.

We then moved to coastal Virginia (Deltaville) in June of 1987, where she served duty as a dump truck.

Shortly after moving to Deltaville, Dad and I caught the Salt Water sickness, and she spent 4 years towing a Sea Craft 23 to various East Coast Desitnations (Hatteras, OI, Rudee, Chinc etc)

Keep in mind she is only a f-150 with a 6cyl, pulling 7000 pounds of red center console in the summer heat!

After moving up in boat size, we no longer needed to pull our fishing boat, but she was kept active, deer hunting and pulling a duck boat over to the Eastern shore with regularity.

About two years ago, she became the official Bite Me Sportfishing Company Truck.

since then she has hauled boat shafts 14' long 2 1/2" two ata time, several thousand pounds of Ice, and fishing tackle, as well as numerous loads of tools, lumber and junk to the dump.

She has been Headlights Deep in Storm tide atleast 10 times.

Oil is changed annually weather it needs it or not.

I did however have to recently replace the radiator.

Has not been washed nor waxed since late 1990.

Still starts and runs perfectly, heater works, kicking stereo (that is worth more than the truck I am sure) XM. She sports one of the most ecletic off the wall sticker collections (some placed to cover rust holes or hold various body parts together), black fiberglass top still about half connected to the bed with no rear window, tailgate falls off periodically. 1 out of 2 doors work, luckily it is the driver's. Vinyl floor matts and seats, fully hose-able interior.

She sports a new (well tested) faded navy blue hood, straight from the junkyard with the words "bad motor" accross the front in yellow die marker. The original hood was ripped clean off while driving from Hatteras to Frisco during a hurricane this year, into about a 50 MPH head wind and a gust cleared the hood right off with one fell swoope. The hood also says "1986 Ford f-150" incase I ever forget what she is. I keep threatening to add "ass" to the "bad motor".

She is driven daily, when I am not drivin the land rover, or ridin the beemer.

you can send me the tuna now.
