Hey Zummie you smokin doobies..It's 75 million after all enviornmental clean up and BP volunteered on their own to waive the cap so they now have unlimited liability, get your twisties straight. Obama didn't do squat except make some noise and played right into BP's hand.
Zummie, you're as bad as those you are critical of: namely taking this out of context and representing things that are simply untrue.
The fact of the matter is: Congressman Barton's remarks were out of line and an embarisment to the entire Congress. However, they do not represent the Republican party's views or those of other GOP members in Congress. You are well aware that Barton was chastised by his own peers for the off the cuff remark, and he appologised for his remarks. It's a shame you now are trying to cast this as a "position"of the GOP..

I just don't understand how you are possibly going to be able to estimate the financial damages to business' down there. Soon people will be suing BP because their girlfriends didn't get pregnant because of the spill. As a matter of fact I'm starting to get stressed and emotionally damaged. Can I sue BP. Just Kidding. But where will this end. Who will decide where it ends. I'm sure there will be a comittee to oversee, who's salaries are paid by taxes. I wish the government would look at themselves as hard as they are going to put BP through the ringer. When they make mistakes it's o.k. To me it looks like BP is " TRYING" to step up, for their mistakes. Of course they are going to try to minimize their financial hit. I AM TRULY SICK OF THE GOVERNMENT'S DOUBLE STANDARD. They accept no responsibility. Who signed off and inspected the operation - from the government. They are majority responsible. All companies cut corners to make more profits, thats why there is oversight/ inspectors. BP is responsible that is obvious, but there are other parties too. I do not know all the facts, neither does anyone. If BP gives all of their effort to fix this, how can you not support them. I don't live down there, and I wish all the people affected the very best. But I will buy BP fuel to support their cleanup attempts, until they prove to me,that they aren't going to try and fix this. Accidents do happen, and yes this could have been prevented. But so could have a lot of things, one teeny tiny example - The world trade center. When the government screws up they get one huge pass don't they.
Zummie come on man..Barton ain't a leader he's a hack and took the most money from the oil lobbyists..you tried to twist this and it back fired..get off it, this ain't politcial it's a friggin disaster like all of us have never seen, left or right don't politic up a shitty situation

Barton was just repeating the same language that other Republicans voiced yesterday.See the article that started this thread.Barton's language echoed remarks Rep. Tom Price of Georgia made late Wednesday. The Republican Study Committee chief blasted the escrow account as an example of Obama's "Chicago-style shakedown politics."
BTW Barton, who you call a "hack" IS the top Ranking Republican on the house energy committee that called the BP CEO to testify today. He is the "Chair in waiting" of the powerful energy committee which means that if the REpublicans get a majority in the House he would be the Chairman.
Like I said, Barton was just Parroting what the "Republican Study Committee Chief" said yesterday. Who is on the Republican Study Committee? Check it out
http://rsc.tomprice.house.gov/aboutrsc/memberlist.htm
And yes, you are right, Barton, the highest ranking Republican on the Energy Committee did get more oil money contributions that ANY other member of the House but then, 70% of ALL oil money contributions went to Republicans.
Well I'll trade ya Barton's blunders for Barney Franks fine ovesight of the House Financial Services committee any day..that rump ranger put us in this shithole of an economy were in..that took down..AIG - Merrill Lynch - Lehman Brothers - FNMA and FHLMC - GM - Chrysler and probably a few hundred other noteworthy names ..the worst financial devastion in the history of the modern world orchestrated by the demo's and lefties thinking "everybody should own a home"..you take the governor off of the capitalists engine sure they are gonna drive a truck thru a keyhole...they knew better but they didn't listen..their agenda was more important. 2012 can't come soon enough...
You want to talk about political contributions and Pac's guess who was one of the largest contributors to your boy Obama...FNMA..talk about the fox in the henhouse..
He's a hack, I don't care what chair is looming in his future, I highly doubt he will get a potty chair after this Hari Kari move he just pulled on himself.
Just so were crystal clear...I don't like politicians of either stripe...neither party works well enough to earn the pay, prestige, retirement and healthcare benefits that are virtually unavailable to anyone else..
