I think the cops in this case were wrong, and I would be super pissed if put in that situation also
they should have come into the restaurant and say excuse me do you have a gun on your hip, and you say yes. then ask do you have a carry permit, you say yes. show them the permit then get your permit back, cop says have a nice day and leaves.

no need for the handcuffs, embarrassment and BS, to find out that you are not breaking any laws.

if the ***** in the restaurant feels threatened than she should go and get a carry permit so she feels at ease and able to protect herself. I would go after her in this case, teach her to mind her own business, and respect a persons rights

Tell your grandma or mother to go get one as well just so they feel safe?

you can bet your ass I would
let her carry and be able to protect herself against a criminal
absolutely. No better deterrent to crime than a mother with a 38 on her hip.

Honestly though, I think the gun is what frightened her, not your race. Serious question, do you think all 'thugs' are black?

I think it could've happened to anyone

Well I dont say much anymore but I will chime in.

Capt John if i walked in a store and saw you or wahoonbox one white one black and you all had guns I would shit my self and run.

white black guns SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME!

I dont mind hunters, I dont have a problem with guns, but shit they scare me. One mistake ='s dead/// I dont like dead.

I live in Jersey, every once in awhile under covers walk into our wawa and if I dont see a badge on the belt I walk out..

    No lie they scare me.......

WOULD i call the cops? Umm dont know.. I have not

Was the lady local to your area?
Is she used to seeing this?
Black/ white / yellow/ what ever guns scare some people.

Thug? Shit football player your huge !!!

Dont take it personallly man, we live in a wild world right now with people on edge.

Unemployement at highs, people loosing homes, people are robbing women as they walk out of the grocery stores up here to get food.

Sit back and think about some amazing fishing and dont let some scared women bother you as you are no doubt a stand up man!

    Happy holidays

For me this is the essence of what should have occurred. And I would go to your local police station and ask about it. That said, watch Criminal Minds, whatever you think about profiling, it works.....ususally. I have whatever they call it these days to carry concealed in Massachusetts. When I go to NH, there's another set of rules, ME wants it carried as you did, openly. If you leave the vehicle as you did, you can't leave it in the car, unloaded on loaded, even in the trunk unloaded...long and short until every state has the same rules, these things will happen....in Maine, you tell a guy to get off your property, if you feel threatened, and he doesn't, you can blow him to kingdom come (and it's been tried in court, some guys think they can hunt anywhere they want), in my state, you have to shoot him, drag him in the house, and put a knife in his hand (per my local PD)....and me being me, I want everyone to carry, concealed, I think there'd be a lot less violent crime if a guy was doing something wrong, and 5 old ladies pulled 44 magnums out their purses....game over...anyway John, sorry it happened, I know you're over it, if you wear it like Wyatt Earp, openly, I'd say it will happen again....I have a S&W 44, 8.375" barrel that I carry concealed, well as concealed as I can, that I take when I go to Boston at night. I can think of three incidences when I've unzipped my jacket, and that was enough, and once I pulled it, and once I used it....I don't leave home without it....

If your going to pack in this day and age and it shows you will get harrassed and I personnelly think the Police officers did a great job handling this, I have a cwp permit going on 30 years and hope to never have to give up this priveledge. I have never ever let my side arm be visible in public that is why it is called a cwp!!!PEACE
