WOW!!

That is absolutely absurb, f-ed up, amazing, and most of all disturbing.

If the purse seining continues, all the world's oceans will be void of tuna, and whatever else they happen to encircle.

I'm certain they have already done permanant, irreversible damage to fisheries around the world.

But the sportfishing boats didn't have to stay there and allow themselves to be surrounded. If they were worried about what was going to happen and saw the net boat circling them they have a lot more speed than that boat they could have gotten out ahead of him before he circled them.

I am not making excuses for them being surrounded because that is screwed up to begin with. But they could have easily gotten ahead of the boat putting out the seine and gotten out of that mess.

Looked to me that the purse seiner was bluffing them they called and both ended up screwing up a couple of hours. Because that purse seiner could have caused them a whole lot more trouble than he did and they could have gotten out of his way as well.

sadful to say....that is totally unacceptable....surprised no shots across the bow were fired......hell we have a hard enough time enforcing rules/regs here in the states.....i could only imagine how much they are probably disobeyed or even ignored in foreign lands such as Costa Rica..and in seeing this video looks like a commercial seiner does not want to share the fishery....will be intersting to see the Costa Rican governments stance...hopefully this will be an isolated incident.

This has been going on for a long time. It has gotten way worse this past month. It's bad enough that they take all the tuna before we get a shot. I am almost sure that both of the boats are owned by our good buddy Hugo Chavaz. Send the link to your friends. Also don't forget about the longliners too. Guys, I have to say that it's hard for me to get excited about that. There's a reason hate seiners and the fact is that stateside scumbag seiners have been doing that same thing for years. Nobody seemed to give a shit when it happened to me or others back in the 90's here in the states. That said, maybe this will help rid the oceans of these assholes...
