Colonoscopy....and Fishing.

Well, I waited until I was 53 going on 54 but after much prodding I finally got it out of the way. My brother had it done and convinced me to get it too as my father died having colon cancer and he just had 3 large pollops removed.
The prep really isnt that bad. You drink this stuff and take 4 pills. Its the not eating anything for 36 hours thats hard. I just wanted a sandwich.
In I go.....Alex, your next. After the iv they wheel me in and the first thing I see ......the doctor has long hair pulled back in a poneytail. Cool, I like this guy already. I was going to ask him right there what model Harley he had but decided not to. Measure twice and cut once I tell him. For the first time a doctor laughs. Then I tell him for 50 years guys have been telling me to shove it up my a$#, feel free to take out anything that may also be in there. Now were all laughing......will do he says. One of thedownsides of working in construction I tell him we have a much less formal approach to communication.
I notice the lights dim, and I telol them Im going to dream about my boat...the same thing I say to my girlfriend every night we get in bed.
Well, Guess what? I had the best 15 minute dream I have ever had. Immediately Im on my new boat. Its a 37 billfish and we are hooked up. Teddy, flicker, jimmy, and my brother are all there as that blue marlin grey hounds across the water trying to get free. I remember turning and thinking....where did I get this boat but quickly realize I dont care. Its mine and were hooked up. Yelling, screaming, laughing as the fish continues for the horizon........I feel this tug on my hiney, hear my name called by a guy not on the boat and the fish disappears....evaporates into thin air. I hear laughing as i wake, and I realize Im already talking. He got away Im saying and they are telling me I talk alot while Im under.
It was the best 15 minute dream I have ever had and in my mind still resulted in a happy ending.
Moral of the story, Its not as bad as you think it can be and you may even enjoy the dream you have while they check you out for what could kill you. Im going to put this one down as 1 that got away. To me, it was real.

That's when I had tears running down my face and laughing histerically!!! Great story!!! My grandfather died of colon cancer as well, and they say 40 is the magic number when I should get checked!!! If my dreams are as good as yours I will be one happy sailor!!! If you have a happy ending wouldn't it be called a RELEASE?

For everyone on here thats 50.......get it done, Ill buy lunch when its over. Send me the bill. Thats the hardest part, not eating for 36 hrs. Believe me when I tell you I was nervous and didnt want to go. I ignore alot but Im glad I got it over with. Like my brother said, Life is too good to die like that......plus, you never know what you might dream about.
