If my memory serves me correctly and the years tend to blend together after a while. I haven't dealt with them for some time but I know there were issues I think at one point with their heads and aftercoolers. We had a boat in Long Island that had them done at one point....I think 1999 -2000. Never worked with the C12's too much but I believe that they were not as affected as the 3196.

No detriots some of the older boats with re-powers but thats about it

yup, there is also a class action lawsuit going on weith those CATs 3196, 3176 and C-12. in michigan.
