    Smile Chub Guests Reminders

For those that are comming both repeat or new... Some reminders...

Guests but have in their posession a valid passport. Wait times are down so there is enough time to get one if you don't already.

Packing: A lot of you ask what to bring. My suggestion is light casual clothes for really everything. You can bring a collared shirt for the nights for the restaurant if you want but don't have to. It is still the spring and nights can get cool. Bring a light jacket. I suggest packing in a roller cooler. Put a duffle bag in there to bring home laundry and that will leave the cooler for your fillets which will be bagged and frozen... With the length of the trip and Bahamian regulations its likely that your cooler will be loaded to the max.

Sun protection. Chub being 140 miles from the main land is like being that far out to sea. Little air contamination to slow the sun. Bring sun screen, and a good set of polarized glasses. For offshore I suggest a dark gray lense. If you plan on perhaps trying after big game fishing heading to the flats for some bonefish. You may want a little more amber tint to the lenses for that.

Communication. Att cell works over there but is dog gone expensive. Even with the world traveler deal its still close to $2 a minute and once BATELCO has a hold of your phone they will whack you big on texts or even unanswered calls. Shut oit off when not using. There are payphones on the island but frequently don't work. I'll have a laptop and they have WiFi. Its possible that I may set up a magic jack connection for out bound calls but I need more info to see if it will work there first.

Tips... I'm on salary, tip is appreciated but not as necessary as taking care of your mate as he is not on salary.

Booze: May be purchased on island... Beer is damn expensive. I can carry a very little and space is limited to first come first served. There are two small bars you can get island creations from.

For those of you still wanting to go but havn't signed up yet. Single seats and even whole boat dates are still available at this time. Often it fills up fast right before we go and people get left behind. We hope that doesn't happen this time but to be sure it doesn't lock down a seat. You can pick your date closer to go time.

Requests: We aim to please. Its your trip, not ours... Let us know what it is you want to target. Let us know what hours you prefer to fish. Don't be shy about asking you mate to take you bonefishing. If there is something special you want to eat or drink let us know. Hooking the fish is your option to do it yourself or have us do it. If we feel you are competent enough you may even leader or gaff your own fish...

These trips aren't just any trip... They have to be run like a fine tuned machine. If we don't have it we can't get it... Gotta dot the "I"s and cross the "T"s so it all runs smooth...

That reminds me... Shoes: White soft soles with closed toes please. The wahoos run big there and I really prefer having my guests go home with all their toes...

Bring old sneakers if you want to wade the flats. You can go barefoot but I way prefer if you wear something protective in case of razor clam or urchin you didn't see...

Paul...I'm with big fish. I'm ready to experience this adventure. It's just the funds to do so right now. Guess I will need to cut Kim back on the Sunset / Marco's fine dining to do so!! One day soon however.

Please post as many pics as you can. It's always very interesting to see where these trips take place and see what fish are taken. The more the better to "wetten the whistle".

Stay safe and hope all is well.
