    Check your ditch bag

It's that time of yr. for everybody to start getting ready for the spring fishing to kick off, your tying rigs, respooling reels, maintenence on the boat etc.But have you gone through your ditch bag and checked all your important items, the stuff that really matters if you need it?I got mine out today and started going through all the stuff in there, going through all my flares, batteries, checking everything that needs to be checked and re-sealing stuff that needs to stay waterproof,so go through your ditch bag while fishing is slow and make sure your main fishing stuff is in safe working order, cause when you need it you want it to work.

It would be interesting to see what the essentials list is for most people in a ditch bag. One buddy carries a box of aluminum foil - thinking unrolling it on the water will make a bigger radar target. What's in your bag? Mine starts with mirror, handheld GPS and VHF.

I keep all the required equp.in mine and double the amount of flares/day markers reqd.I also keep emergency blankets/ponchos for ea.person on board. And this yr.I'm adding MRE'S for those on board. And I am adding a 25ft piece of rope tied to a throw cushion and then tied to my ditch bag,so it will still float and if need be all on board can hang on to the rope and stay together if something should happen.(no life raft, yet)
