Charter or Buddy Offshore 8/20-8/24
helpsmilie: I'm looking for some other boats to run with any of those days the weather is fair enough to fish offshore. Any charters or private boats that I could follow or communicate with would be a great help. I'm an experienced boater and fisherman In the Great Lakes but never offshore with my rig. I will not inconvienence or get in the way of anyone that buddies up with me. I would like to have some other boat or boats to make the runs out and in with. Information sharing would be a bonus but not necasary I'm looking more at the safety aspect of being offshore and navigating the inlets. I can be reached at 412-603-0070 Wayne Chechak

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Give some details of where you are and where you intend to fish, and I'm sure somebody will chime in

Fishing from?
I will be fishing from Hatteras Inlet or Oregon Inlet depending on the water conditions. I would prefer Hatteras due to making a closer run. I will fish wherever we can find fish. Rockpile, Blue water, weedlines, wrecks, etc.. I'm open to suggestions just want to make a couple nice trips with my cousin, brothers and Dad. I think we'll all be happy just catching somekind of fish! I would like to fish for dolphin, wahoo, and tuna but would even do some bottom fishing. Any info would be a great help. If I could buddy up with another boat or a few boats it would put our minds at ease on our first offshore saltwater trips. Thanks in advance for any information or help I may recieve.

Don't blast out in the dark on the ass end of a charter!
Unless of course you have asked the Captain. Many of them frown on the YOO HOOS tailgating em and some might just swing wide around a corner and leave you diggin for clams with your props. It is a good idea to get some help if you have never left those inlets on your own. Experienced fisherman get in trouble regularly out of those inlets. Watch the weather and talk with the locals right before your trip. You will be suprised how quick it can get very dicey. I think you are on the right track looking for a buddy boat. Consider leaving the inlet the afternoon before your trip and getting your route out/in locked on your GPS. There are some very tight channels that are easy to vear out of and run aground. They change fast too. Maybe get a local to show you in and out of the inlet the day before. Be comfortable getting you and your boat out and back safe in case you lose contact with your buddy boat or they have mechanical trouble.

Running with or behind charters
I don't want to just follow the fleet. I'm asking for some help with navigating and/or some boats to buddy up with while fishing next week. I do know how to run my boat and do respect not only fishermen but also the Charter Captains that are making there living off of fishing out there. If any Charters would be kind enough to help me I would promise to stay far away while fishing and not interfere with them or there clients. I'm an experienced fisherman and boater and just want the security of navigating my first time or two offshore. I have purchased towing service and a good vhf, new antenna so I would be covered if I would encounter problems out there. If anyone would assist in my first trips off shore it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again Wayne
