    Caught my first tuna and got my new boat

    I caught my first Tuna on 4 July. I went on a fishing trip with Canyon Runners Charter. The crew and CPT were excellent and the boat and gear they had was in great condition.

    The group that fished were a mix of Army and Marines that were all veterans of Iraq and everyone caught at least one Tuna. We also picked up a peanut sized mahi.

    My fish weighed about 65 lbs and was a great FIGHT. For some on here it may not have been much of a catch but for me it was my first tuna and first fish of that size.

    This week I also picked up my new to me boat. She is a 1987 Mako 248. All the wiring and electronics were recently replaced and the engine is a 2004 Yamaha 300hp still under warranty. Took her out Wend and caught some sharks and whiting and am going out to one of the GA near shore reefs on Sunday. Hope to get more fish pics then.

    New boat name

    In order I am thinking of them;

    Dam Yankee II (cause the old boat is Dam Yankee)

    5th Deployment (cause 5 Army Deployments paid for it!)

    Sand Box Toy (we call Iraq /Kuwait the sand box )

    Net Work (cause I am a Computer Network Tech in Army)

    Mega Byte (cause I am a geek)

    Shark Fighter (bit of an over brag but i started a website www.sharkfighter.com )

    Any thoughts?

    Rob

    Congrats....or maybe I should say my condolences for joining the ranks of the hopelessly addicted fishermen The new boat looks like a machine and I have a feeling will be seeing many fish come over the rails. In terms of the name, I thought Mega Byte was pretty funny. Congrats again, and thank you for your service!
