Cool Castnetting 1-0-duh & welcom 2 my mind

    Alright,
I was born a poor white boy in the bronx in 1948.
NO, wait, thats for my analyst not here.

This may go longer than I thought. Bear with me.

Got some pics of a cast net I bought one time when I went to the keys to get over winter. Not sure why I bought it at the time but just had to have it. The amazing thing is it survived in that lonely place we put all the fishing gear that looks good at the time but we never use. Now come on folks, we all have a place where we keep stuff that just, Well, Hooked us when we saw it. This one never made it to a yard sale or good will. Good thing cause I'm puttin it to use now.
If you have never been able to throw a cast net, you can handle this one. Sorry, lost the card that tells me who I bought it from but you can probably find one like it. My 14 yr old grand daughter had it opening fully after the 3rd try.
Notice the ring in the center, thats the key. This net is only 8'
but real easy to get used to.
1st pic is the net spread out, Can't see the mesh but I outlined it with the cord.
2nd pic, the net is sittin on a chair.
    3rd pic, success.
Would like to inter sp[erse the pics with narrative but dont know how. I'm PC illeterate.
I'd show you some pics of an un successfull cast but it's to embarasin. Filled a 5 gal bucket with finger mullet in about 1 1/2 hrs. Woulda been quicker but I still only get 2 out of 3 casts right. Gonna let this go now and edit it to see if I can get things where I want them. That aint gonna work.
Ok, Got myself to Millsboro, Canal, Close to indian river bay,
figure I'm in. Wrong. fishing that bay is like driving in a mall parking lot at christmas. After you dodge all the boats, low water, rocks and whatever you have to catch a 19 1/2 inch flounder to keep it, Whats up with that ? did some butt head send divers down and measure all the flounder ? I can see the conversation. Hey guys, 10,000 flounder in the bay, 6 of em are over 19 inches, lets make the legal limit 19 1/2.
Guess I'm just not ever gonna make it as a bay fisherman.
Thats where the cast net and finger mullet come in. Waiting for the water to cool to see if the thresher come back.
    Anyone interested ?

Keep on netting them Joe. If you run out of room, I have a big pen to put them into.

Guess they call em Finger mullet here. Is there a difference ?
Is it not a finger mullet ? Sorry for my ignorance but have not spent a lot of time catching bait.
Whatever they are it seems they are hard to keep alive.

    I had pancakes for breakfast.
Didn't throw any. Matter of fact, didn't feel sick at all on the dock.
    No bananas in the house.

Don't think it's a spot. Spot look a lot like croaker except the "spot is above the Pec fin. Has stripes.
Picture follows. These guys aint got no stripes and are harder to keep alive. Got a pen full of spot. These are different.
I admit I aint sure but check it out.
this i think is a spot.

    Pogies/Menhaden

They are a real PIA to keep alive in a pen though, unless you have a lot of constant water flow where you're keepin' them, you're much better off catchin' them fresh.
