Exclamation Carolina and New Jersey inlet info needed

Heading north to deliver a 35' Cabo to New Hampshire starting on Tuesday. Could use some help from the locals on inlet and channel conditions if you could be so kind. The boat drafts about 3.5' at an idle so it can get fairly shallow. Only about 240 NM range before needing fuel.

Oregon Inlet, last time I was through there in October it was fine except for having to go around a marker on the wrong side headed for Pirates Cove. Any news on Old House channel?

Barnegat Inlet, have never been in there but due to range limits I might need to slide in there for the night. Any info on inlet navigation and a place to dock for the night? What about an alternate stop in the area?

Thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated!

Personally I thinki Absecon Inlet is a better stop than Barnegat. You can probably get a slip at Farley State Marina (Trump Marina Casino) and the inlet is well marked and easy to get in and out.

Yeah we usually stop at Absecon and always stay at Trump Marina. Also picked up a few vessels from there headed south. But with a shallower draft I figured why not explore other possibilities for the future. Is Barnegat that bad?

    This might help for OI...

Old House is fine if you want to take it but it's not the fastest way to pirate's cove. If you look on that site, Range 6 is the way almost everyone goes except for deeper draft vessels. If you want to compare, Range 6a is Old House. Hope this is useful.

Oh yeah, that's also assuming your running the ocean and not the ICW.

Barnegat Inlet isn't a problem. It's well marked. There are shoals about 3/4 mile to the south of the inlet channel, so just hit the bell bouy and follow the rest of the bouys in to the jetties...

marina at barnegat light, viking village, lighthouse and bayview marinas should all be able to accomodate you as there aren't a lot of boats in the water yet.

i would not try to take on beach haven inlet if you're not familiar with it. the markers are small and far apart. that spells a wet windshield full of trouble if you're in NW 20-30..

If you still have another hour in your day of running stop in manasquan, plenty of marinas, no shoaling and good resturants.

I have been going out of Barney for a long time now and I agree with Pez quite a bit.

However, There are a few shoals outside the mouth, mostly on the south side, that could be an issue if you were hugging the shore
